Bangué Lodge

About us

Orchidée, the great-niece

A story rooted in the Iguéla Lagoon

Very few regular fishermen on the Iguéla Lagoon have not heard of Christian Ogans. His camp is the place to go for fresh bait, including mullet, sardines and fidels for surfcasting…

A native of Iguéla, he inherited the site from his father.

After travelling as far as neighbouring Congo for jobs related to the oil industry, he decided to drop anchor near the mouth of the lagoon. There, he fishes for red snapper, threadfin, croaker, mandaros and other species, which he supplies to the markets of Port-Gentil.

Christian,
artisanal fisherman of Tchongorové

This is how he became the artisanal fisherman everyone knows in Tchongorové, the village on the lagoon.

Ogans is the shortened form of his family name, Ogandaga Lerzan.

Christian has been with France Mélinda Mouhinga, known here as Féfé, for 12 years.

While he naturally took charge of the fishing activities, she made the lodge logistics and catering her domain. A truly talented cook, she was even featured in a France 24 report when she was selling her dishes in Tchongorové.

The beginning of the adventure

For some time, they had been thinking about developing their camp, without ever really taking the plunge, mainly due to a lack of resources. Then, a pair of fishermen who had fallen in love with the lagoon suggested spending a few days with them in February 2025. That marked the beginning of the adventure…

Today, the two of them run the Bangué camp together, much to the delight of sport fishing enthusiasts.

Everything in this little corner of paradise is truly authentic.
